Maternity photo session info guide

Useful things to know before the maternity photo session:

Being pregnant is such a joyful moment in life. A child spends a moment in mom’s belly but an eternity in her heart. The best time for the photo shoot is usually between 28 and 35 weeks of pregnancy. The pregnancy photo shoot takes place outdoor predominantly around Dee Why but other locations on the Northern Beaches are also possible.

I always recommend the sunrise or sunset photo shoot to achieve the best results. Natural light conditions around this time of the day combined with fluffy clouds and picturesque scenery create excellent conditions for the photography.

You don't have to worry if you don't have any maternity dresses. I can provide up to three maternity dresses for hire and you can choose your favourite. All dresses are stretchy so most figures will fit in perfectly (click here for more info about maternity dresses).

Before the maternity photography session we will discuss and pencil-in the best time and day for your photo session and I will answer any of your questions. I will also provide Maternity Sessions welcome kit with more information about the photo session.

There is a $200 deposit/session fee payable in advance to secure your booking and the remaining amount is payable after the photo shoot.

On the day...

Once you are ready for the photo shoot we will meet at previously agreed location. Your partner can join us so feel free to bring him along. I can provide some props and dress(es) if you hired them.

From my experience I can tell that the typical maternity photo session usually lasts up to two hours. You might want to change your maternity dress during the photo session and that's fine. We will be moving from one location to another for landscape change. Every photo shoot location is a short walking distance so there is nothing to be worried about.

Remember, the most important thing is that you feel relaxed, comfortable, and enjoy your time. It’s a very exciting and friendly atmosphere and a unique milestone in your life.

What happens next...

You can relax and enjoy wonderful days knowing that your images are being prepared for you. I will start selecting and editing photos in order to get the very best from the photo shoot. I use up-to-date and legal software (Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Zoner Photo Studio). If you wish, I can provide you a sneak peek of the first edited photo on my Facebook Page and on my blog on this website. You are more than welcome to tag me and yourselves and share the picture online.

Once the work is finished, depending on the package option you have selected, I will upload 10, 15 or 20 high resolution images onto the online gallery. You will receive email with the link and password to access the online gallery. This ensures complete privacy and control of your photo online content. The images in the online gallery will be watermarked and will be unable for download (except the bronze package). You can, however, share the online gallery with your family and friends to view them. There will be a 30-day access period and you can select 4 (silver package) or 8 (gold package) photos for 8x6” (20x15cm) archival prints.

When the prints are ready, I will upload your edited gallery photos (and if you selected silver or gold package the set of unedited high resolution images will also be uploaded) on a customised USB flash drive. Then, I will prepare the package along with your prints for your collection at my studio, or I will post the package to your nominated address. You can also purchase CANVAS and other products in the online gallery.
